Christmas Night On the Farm

Maria begins this children’s book with a vision of Christmas Eve, at her grandmother's farm, recalling memories from a moment in time, on the meaning of Christmas. So, begins this touching story of the writer's own childhood memories in her debut children’s book. Christmas Night on the Farm is the brilliantly illustrated story of a girl’s memories of her family’s holiday season in the mid-1960s on a rural Arkansas farm.

Grandmas Thanksgiving Dinner

Maria Hoskins is a storyteller and educator whose books offer young readers a bird’s-eye view of rural farm life. More than just delightful storytelling, Hoskins takes great care to ensure that her beautiful illustrations result in a meaningful and enjoyable relationship for children. Author of the 2014 Christmas Night on the Farm, Maria Hoskins has once again brought her magical childhood memories of holidays on the farm to young readers in her new book, Grandma’s Thanksgiving Dinner.

The Easter Story

As winter turns to spring and spring to summer it brings with it the change in season and the family reunion tradition. Families all over the world come together for some as much as once a year to reunite, socialize, strengthen family ties and relationships, and learn about family history.

Some family traditions we carry with us from childhood into our adult lives.  The memories are stored in the very depth of our souls.   As children it did not matter ones’ religion, race, or social status; holidays may be celebrated in different ways, but we have that common thread; we celebrate with our loved ones and create memories that last a lifetime.

Papa's Pets

Papa’s Pets is a fictional story, but it symbolizes an account of a day in the life of Papa Gill and his dog JR.  Papa Gill’s kind nature and spirit transcend to the animals and to his community.  Children will gain an understanding that true kindness is a virtue that extends from one’s heart to all of one’s surroundings.  This book also includes a writing exercise for young readers to write about their own pet experience.
